From his earliest years, John M Mason showed a passion for Scottish traditional music that would take him around the globe to perform in the world’s most renowned concert halls. John M Mason`s compositions and arrangements were the driving force of those performances. For 31 years, he was the musical director and conductor of the hugely popular Scottish Fiddle Orchestra, which he founded in 1980. In 1987 he was rewarded with an MBE for his services to Scottish traditional music and to charity. His musical influence is now woven into the fabric of the music of Scotland, extending around the world from his homes in Orkney, Wigtownshire and Ayrshire to Canada and China and all places in between.
